To Be A Church Marked By Determined Humility

"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” -  1 Corinthians 9:24-27

THE ADVANCE OF THE GOSPEL
THROUGH A CHURCH MARKED
BY A DETERMINED HUMILITY.

This Sunday, in an exhortation to our church, I prayed that we would be marked by a determined humility to see the Gospel advance in our city. So as I pray for our church this week, I’m praying for the following according to 1 Corinthians 9:

  • That we'd be humbled by the gospel to motivate mission
  • That we'd be determined in heart and action to see people hear the good news of Jesus
  • That we’d be united in mission and vision
  • That we’d become all things to all people in order to share the Gospel

May our church be so humbled by God’s gracious gifts to us through his Son, Jesus, that we’d be willing to give up things we love in order for things we love more.
